Twelve apartments over five floors, with a roof terrace on top. The block sits between existing buildings on a street front, so the design started from the situation already there.
Approach
We aimed to make the most of the existing conditions with variable solutions. The twelve apartments differ in size and typology, each fitted to its situation instead of repeated from a standard plan. On the street facade, movable timber shutters let the building change with the light through the day. The ground floor metalwork is by an artist, a collaboration we suggested as the architecture firm.
